Ho Chi Minh City gives way quickly to the waterways of the Mekong Delta, where boats, farms, markets and small communities introduce a part of Vietnam where everyday life remains closely connected to the river.

Continue through the delta and cross into Cambodia, following the Mekong towards Phnom Penh. The Cambodian capital brings a different history, architecture and food culture while keeping the river at the centre of the journey.

From Phnom Penh, continue to Siem Reap and Angkor, where the journey moves from contemporary Cambodia to the temples and landscapes of the Khmer Empire.
